Welcome to my 4th grade class. I have taught multi-age for 10 years and enjoy every minute. I have found teaching to be my true calling, though it took me some time to realize the gifts and talents God had given me. With the right leaders, mentors, and support I was able to become the educator I am today. Since I was little I would always play school or people would always follow my lead. I loved learning and always was fascinated by the teachers in my life. They all were inspiring and encouraging. Though I initially studied film; I still had structure and creativity. I was always teaching others new skills. Once I graduated and saw dreams of being a movie director were slim, I realized God had something better planned for me. It was a year after college that God moved my attention to the youth. I started teaching Confirmation to high school teens and volunteering in the LifeTeen Ministry. I moved on to be a youth minister at St. Anthony’s in El Segundo and would also work closely with the school as a substitute teacher and middle school youth minister. During that time God also had me volunteering at St. Madeleine in Pomona as faith formation coordinator for the elementary school. My jobs at the time were more like Missionary assignments. I eventually ended youth ministry and began teaching at St. Madeleine Catholic School for seven years. It was there I fully submerged into education and truly found my calling as both an educator and leader.
Teaching is my vocation. Teaching in a Catholic school becomes a ministry. Teaching is relational and it’s what keeps the world moving. If it isn’t me teaching my students, or the students teaching me, it is God who is teaching us. St. John Bosco, pray for us.
